PING Europe, based in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, assembles and distributes golf equipment to the UK, Ireland, Europe, Iceland, South Africa and the Middle East. The European headquarters employs over 250 people in a range of different functions, including manufacturing, operations, marketing, sales and finance. The company is also the proprietor of the local golf club, Thonock Park.

Research and Test Engineers

Ping Europe is seeking two qualified Research and Test Engineers to join their new UK Research Team. This exciting group will be based in Loughborough and be led by Dr. Jonathan Shepherd. You will be part of a team responsible for engaging with research institutions and working on independent projects to push the frontiers of innovative new technology and novel new test methods related to golf performance. The role will commence in the summer of 2021.

The primary responsibilities of the role involve developing knowledge and insights around human performance, the human-equipment interaction and how to dive into true and often subtle performance differences between prototype clubs. You will need enthusiasm and passion for golf, a curiosity and drive to try new things, a world-class grounding in the fundamentals of sports engineering and experimental research and a proven track record of getting things done. We will offer you the technical mentorship, collaboration opportunities and platform to help a lot of golfers play their best.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead both independent research projects and partnerships with key UK/European research institutions on a range of topics related to human performance, psychology of golf, sensory experience in golf and any other aspect of performance-related technology development in golf
  • Seek, identify and evaluate potential innovations that would make a meaningful improvement in golf club performance
  • Pilot new and creative ways to test the performance of all types of golf clubs with a range of golfers, with a particular focus on better matching the on-course environment and understanding of the human-equipment interaction
  • Data analysis and visualisation to develop new insights into golf club performance
  • Research and testing initiatives that aid in furthering an advanced understanding of golf physics
  • Regular domestic travel and some international travel is required.
 
Essential Qualifications and Experience: 
  • BSc in Sports Engineering, Sports Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Mathematics, or similar discipline from an accredited university. Post-Graduate degree is preferred
  • Basic CAD knowledge is preferred
  • Experience with leading and/or taking part in research projects and pilot studies
  • Working knowledge of golf equipment and physics of golf is preferred.

  • Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, interpersonal and team skills
  • Excellent decision making, problem solving and data analysis skills and a proven ability to complete projects in a timely and successful manner.

Customer Service Representative


Key Responsibilities:
  • Handle incoming sales calls
  • Process orders for Hard Goods, Soft Goods and Apparel from a combination of email and telephone orders
  • Support the UK Sales Team and European Offices
  • Process credit/debit memos
  • Call consumers to confirm diary appointments
  • Contact customers to inform them of back orders or delays on their order
  • Process completed orders through to the Shipping Department for despatch
 
Personal Qualities:
  • Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills
  • Must be confident and possess the ability to work within a team environment but also be at ease using their own initiative and working on their own
  • Must be a self-starter who enjoys problem solving
  • Knowledge of golf would be an advantage

IT Support Technician

Reporting directly to the IT Manager, the IT Support Technician will be responsible for being the primary point of contact for IT support requests, providing first line support for the IT systems in the UK offices and telephone support for remote users in the UK and Europe. As part of the IT function, this role has a responsibility to maintain the integrity and security of the company systems and data.


Key responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and provide first line IT support for colleagues seeking technical assistance
  • Day-to-day operation of the IT Helpdesk including taking calls, logging Helpdesk tickets, and liaising with colleagues in the UK and US on issue resolution
  • Setup and support of IT hardware and software at Ping sites in the UK, utilising remote access tools as required
  • Supporting users at remote sites in both the UK and Europe using remote access tools
  • Assist with infrastructure and development project work as required
  • Keep up to date on current and emerging technologies
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Essential qualifications and experience:
  • Be able to demonstrate IT hardware, software and mobile device problem solving skills in a business environment
  • Have experience of using the latest version of Windows OS and Office 365 in a business network environment
  • Have experience of maintaining and troubleshooting laser printers and label printers
  • Have knowledge of LAN and wireless networking concepts and technologies.

Personal qualities:
  • Have an excellent telephone manner and strong communication skills
  • Be self-motivated and flexible, with good personal organisation
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
